Concept: The concept behind this contest is to sensitize our budding garment and fashion designers and Professionals from the industry make them aware of the difficulties persons with different disabilities have with independent dressing.
The Government of India recognizes 21 different disabilities. You are requested to check this link for information. Please also look up each disability and its symptoms.
There are many other conditions too like obesity, arthritis, etc which interfere with the ability to get dressed independently. Generally speaking, disabilities like Deafness may not pose any issues but persons with visual challenges usually need help even with choosing clothes according to color and style.
We request that the participants choose a mentor who struggles with dressing up independently. It would be easier to have a mentor and expert from the same city as the shortlisted teams will have to come to Pune for the finale and the mentor will need to model the garment.
Ms. Geeta Castelino & Ms. Raju Bhatia, both of who are well known names in the fashion and textile space, join the advisory board
